Wow this place was awesome! I sure enjoyed myself. I wish I could have stayed longer and had a better camera. I will most certainly be coming back at some time in the future to take more photos. Also I would love to take the tour, it's a big place and I'm sure I missed a lot.
A most unusual state capitol building. It is art deco with some amazing murals and feels different because the legislature is unicameral. Well worth a visit if in the area.
Love the building and the architecture. Free admission is great, and it's fun to see the city of Lincoln from the top of the capitol building.
If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it. The tallest building in Lincoln (by law), the observation desk provides a wonderful view of the surrounding area. It's gorgeous inside. The first two buildings they built didn't last, so for this one they got limestone from Indiana, marble from Italy, designs from an architect in New York and artisans from New York as well. Its home to the only state government that is run on a non bipartisan system. They do not have a house and a senate. Their representatives work 60 days one year and 90 days the next and are paid $1200 per year, with an 8 year term limit. We need to be paying attention here...
Something everyone visiting or living in Lincoln should experience. It's free and worth the time.
